Construction JournalJanuary 19th Put another coat of primer on the landing skids and cleaned up the garage. Time Spent: 15 minutes. January 18th Cut the plywood for the inside skirt attach strips. Glued and nailed the inside skirt attach strips and the plywood. Cut the four aluminum pieces for the skids. Cut 2 pieces of angle aluminum for the rudder. Time Spent: 2 hours. January 15th Cut and hotwired another sheet of foam to replace the one that was screwed up. Time Spent: 1.5 hours. January 11th Hotwired the two rudders out of a scrap piece of foam. I scrounged up some scrap wood to use for the outside attach strips. I still had some thin strips left over from ripping down 2x4's into 3/4 x 3/4 strips from the 12t4. I found 2 pieces that were the correct size and can be used for the front and back. I then found 2 pieces about 14 feet in length that I think I can glue to together and use for the sides. I then cut up the 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 3 inch spacers for the duct spacers. Time Spent: 1.5 hours. January 10th I started by measuring and cutting the foam using a jigsaw and hotwire. Time Spent: 1.5 hours. After a break for lunch I cut the pieces for the inner skirt attach strips. It was at this time that I realized there was a problem. It turns out that the width of the foam varied from 2 inches down to 1 1/2 inches. I wanted to use up some of the white foam that I had left over, but I may have to get some new foam and redo everything. I went ahead and measured out all of cuts on the 1/8 inch plywood and called it a day. Time Spent: 1 hour. Back to the Hover Game Home Page.
